We are a husband and wife team (Derek & Dawn Johnston), based in Guisborough (near Middlesbrough). We have a passion for photography, and we pride ourselves on comprehensive coverage and extreme attention to detail.
Your wedding is a day in your life that has arrived after months of careful preparation. You are at your most beautiful. It is your very special day, and you will only get this one opportunity to obtain a priceless collection of images to treasure forever. We consider it an absolute privilege to be chosen to photograph your wedding, and will do our utmost to exceed your expectations.
We do not consider this to be just a "job" with a "production line" attitude. We only undertake a limited number of weddings each year, and almost every wedding we do comes from a recommendation.
Every couple is unique, with different needs and requirements, and great photographs come from getting to know you prior to the wedding. We achieve this by having a "preview" shoot at the venue a few weeks before the big day. This meeting gives us a chance to chat about your exact requirements, explore the venue together and, hopefully, get you to relax in front of the camera.
At the wedding itself, we cover the entire day, typically starting with the bridal preparations and ending at the evening reception. During this period, we shoot a mixture of informal "reportage" and more traditional formal group pictures, usually taking around 700 to 1500 images using extremely high quality full-frame digital SLR cameras. (Nikon D3x, D3 and D700, for those who are interested!)
From these, we carefully work through every single picture (this is called post-processing), applying any necessary corrections to colour balance, exposure, cropping, etc. to improve the picture. This essential work takes around 2 or 3 days, but in the meantime we will place a selection of pictures on the website gallery for you to enjoy from the luxury of the internet cafe in your honeymoon hotel!
After a week or so, we will be ready to present you with approximately 300-600 pictures on three CDs (one in a presentation case), and a booklet of thumbnails to help you to choose your selection for the album.
